In an interview with the Rádio Universitária do Minho (UMinho I&D), the scientific coordinator of the agenda, António Pontes, spoke about the advances and opportunities of developments in Additive Manufacturing on the INOV.AM agenda and its impact on Portuguese industry.

António Pontes highlighted that the INOV.AM Agenda is one of the biggest initiatives of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), and aims to democratize additive manufacturing in Portugal, making it accessible and applicable in national industries, highlighting that the use of this technology will allow flexibility in mass manufacturing and customization, creating new opportunities for different sectors.

The Agenda Coordinator also highlighted the crucial importance of training so that companies can take full advantage of these technologies. “It is not enough to have equipment, you need to have training so that you can make effective and efficient use of that same equipment”, he stated, emphasizing that training companies to design and develop products with these new methodologies is essential for the success of the process. In this sense, the agenda is to invest in the creation of a training academy with five laboratories available in various regions of the country.

Among the various planned developments, he also highlighted the development of integrated robotic systems for large-scale products, such as urban furniture, and specific certification software. Participation in the Formnext fair in Germany is expected this year, to promote and market products, processes and services that are the result of this agenda.

During the conversation it was also possible to learn more about the agenda's sustainability strategy, as well as the commitment of the companies involved in implementing sustainable practices, such as the installation of solar panels and other systems to improve energy consumption efficiency.
